I meet Sean shortly after the JemCon 2009 Offical Fashion contest was over in Jan-Feb 2009. He emailed me to ask if he could produce the fashion I had entered, I had never seen any of my fashions up until now come to life so I told him to give it all he had! Months later I got a beautiful package and inside was not only the first prototype fashion of "Solid Gold" but also the complete Shana doll wearing it with her hair done and even the detailed jewelry. I have never seen such professional work and attention to detail before on any doll clothes, even the actual ones produced for Jem in the 80's.
We keep in contact regularily and talked about all sorts of things, discovering in the process we were artistic kindered spirits. Seperate sides of the same coin. When Sean won the bid for the 2010 JemCon he asked me to become the graphics co-ordinator and of course for me it was "Like a Dream" come true. I pledged to Sean I would do everything in my power to help him make 2010 one aweome con! So funds were needed, we developed the idea of limited edition fashions with our Christmas fashion being the first. Then we talked about a calendar and now I am planning some limited editon prints for charity to sell at the JemCon charity auction in September.
So much good has come out of taking the time to get to know one another in so many ways. I cherish all my Jem family on the board but am especially blessed to have meet Sean. For the future we have lots of stuff planned so don't expect us to disappear anytime soon :) There is lots more Jem goodies to come, that's a promise!

During the 2009 Fashion Contest, I came across an intriguing design amongst the finalists. I was instantly fascinated by this artist's work and drawn to the extravagant style the artist presented. Unfortuntately this design was not voted the winning 2009 fashion, but immediately I was compelled to produce it! I immediately contacted the artist, who turned out to be Amjara! I then proposed that I would like to produce this fashion to benefit JemCon 2009's Charity Auction. I was contacted back almost immediately by Amjara who was more than excited to allow me to 'bring her design to life.' After much time working very hard to do Amjara's design justice, I produced 3 fashions which we named "Solid Gold." I then sent the first fashion to Amjara as a surprise, extremely eager to receive her reaction to seeing her concept brought to a reality. I will simply say Amjara was on top of the world and this sparked the beginning of not only a kindred friendship, but also the start of what would be an amazing team!
The fashion that was auctioned for JemCon 2009's Charity brought in a mind blowing $120.00 for the designated charity! Upon returning from JemCon, I immediatley contacted Amjara to inform her of how successful the fashion went over and we immediately agreed that this should be the first of many collaborations!
I then assumed the role of Convention Chair for JemCon 2010 and knew immediately that I wanted Amjara on board as our graphic deigner and resident artist. To my delight she greatfully accepted the position, went immediately to work and has yet to slow down! The idea came about to create further fashions using Amjara's designs alongside my sewing. This served as a great fundraising idea to help fund JemCon 2010! Since "Solid Gold" we saw great success with our "Holiday Fashion!" With no end to our partnership in sight, we will soon be happy to present our "New Year's Fashion" which will be followed by our "St. Patrick's Day Fashion." From there, we have many more ideas on their way! We are amazingly humbled and thrilled with the communitys' response to our work and glad that we can continue the legacy of Jem, through the sultry, glittery and mature style that has become our signature.
It has been an amazing surprise and blessing to see my friendship with Amjara grow with every endeavour. Also, I can only call it a rare miracle that I found in Amjara the designer who truly inspires me to not only create wonderful fashions, but to feel my creativity surge as our friendship and partnership continues to grow!
I can assure you all, that Amjara and I have many inspiring ideas driving us and as such, will be sticking around far beyond 2010! Not only will we continue to work with JemCon, but also have discussed helping many charities and now wondering, how much further we can take it from here! I guarantee, you will be seeing much more from this dynamic pair!
It's amazing when you discover "the other half of yourself" in a fellow artist who simply needed their other half to bring their passions to life! Again, I'm truly blessed. We compliment one another greatly!
